Dr. O'Carroll began his private practice 27 years ago in Newport Beach and has been actively involved in the community. Dr. O'Carroll has participated in over 35 research projects, has authored several articles in professional journals, and has extensive experience teaching and lecturing to hospitals, conferences and universities.
As medical director of Hoag's Neurobehavioral Medicine Program, Dr. O'Carroll has not only been instrumental in establishing a comprehensive neurobehavioral program at Hoag, but is regarded as a pioneer in his work to integrate conventional neurology with psychiatry. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Neurology/Psychiatry and Pain Medicine.
Dr. Bandari is the Medical Director and the Founder of the Multiple Sclerosis Center of Southern California (MSCSCal) & Research Group in Orange County and a Clinical Assistant Professor of Neurology at the University of Southern California (USC), Keck School of Medicine. He is a lecturer and educator at the local, national and international level in diagnosis, pathophysiology, and advancements in treatments and clinical research in multiple sclerosis (MS). Dr. Bandari completed his residency in Neurology at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Los Angeles, California where he was also the chief resident and he was the recipient of the Leo Munoz Outstanding Resident Award. He completed his fellowship training in neuroimmunology and multiple sclerosis at the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles via the fellowship award from Harvard University Medical School and Brigham & Women's Hospital before joining the faculty of USC in 2004. During his tenure at USC he held positions of the Associate Director and the Director of the MS clinic between 2006-2008 and did extensive collaborative work with Dr. Stanley Van Den Noort at UCI. In fall of 2008 Dr. Bandari established Multiple Sclerosis Center of Southern California and Research Group in Orange County in order to better serve the medical needs of the MS community in Southern California and to provide innovative and cutting edge research in Multiple Sclerosis.
Dr. Bandari's research has focused on neuroimmunology and demyelinating disorders of the central nervous system and more specifically on Multiple Sclerosis. His current projects include clinical trials in cognitive dysfunction in MS, clinical studies in neuro- protection, Neuro-regeneration and Neuronal Stem Cell project in MS, improvement in Quality of Life in MS patients including innovating treatments for spasticity in MS as well as research in new pharmacologic treatments for MS. Dr. Bandari is currently a primary investigator and co-investigator in numerous multi-center clinical trials of new and advances in diagnosis and treatment of MS.
As the Medical Director of the MS center and a faculty of the university, Dr. Bandari is responsible for patient care and education, Residents and Medical Students education as well as clinical research and direct relationship with various organizations. He is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Psychological Trauma Center, a non-profit organization affiliated with the department of Psychiatry at Cedar Sinai Medical Center. He also served on the Resident Quality Assurance Committee of Kaiser Permanente Medical Center. Dr. Bandari is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Neurological Association, and the American Academy of Neurology. He is a Diplomate of The American Board of Hospital Physicians. He is affiliated with and is an advisor, consultant and lecturer for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and Multiple Sclerosis Associate of America.
The entire staff brings 50 years of combined professional medical experience in treating severe pain and diseases and disorders of the brain and the nervous system. In addition to Dr. O'Carroll and Dr. Bandari, we have specialists in the fields of psychiatry, and clinical psychology in permanent residence. Anesthesiologists are also available for referral.
